The pictures directly below were taken in the summer of 2002 and were of a business in Klamath Falls called "Klamath Excursions". It was operated by Joe Sheldon for about three years on Klamath Lake offering tours of the lake, wildlife, dinner trips, etc. The business consisted of the first two boats pictured below. We had considered buying this business and presented more than one offer, however we were unable to come to terms with the seller. Subsequently the business was sold in the summer of 2002, and at this time we are unsure what the new owners plans for it are?
The larger of the two boats (the yellow one, known as "Miss City of Rogue River") previously ran on the Upper Rogue River, from the City of Rogue River to Gold Hill for about 12 years, until about 1996 (approximately). It was then sold to Klamath Excursions and put to use on Klamath Lake. Prior to it use on the Upper Rogue River, it belonged to Hellgate Excursions out of Grants Pass.
The blue boat (known as "White Horse") previously belonged to Hellgate also, however they have been going to larger boats (twin & triple motors) and simply phased-out this boat from their fleet. This boat does have a "Holly Wood" connection in that is was used in the making of the movie "A River Wild" of which parts of this movie were shot in Hellgate Canyon on the Rogue River.
This boat is known as "Miss Gold Hill" it was purchased by "Jet-Boat-Trips" in November of 2002 and it will soon again be running the Rogue making trips from the City of Rogue River to Gold Hill. It was previously operated in conjunction with "Miss City of Rogue River" (pictured above) on the Upper Rogue until 1998 when the business was sold.
